 What Training Equipment Do The Athletes Need To Have?

The athletes will need to bring swim suits, water polo suits*, goggles, dryland gear (shoes, comfortable shirt, shorts, etc.), parka/jacket encouraged, multiple towels, and a notebook for taking notes.

* As part of the camp fee: an Adidas water polo suit will be provided- make sure you order your proper size.

 What Is Included In The Cost Of The Water Polo/Swim Camp?

The cost of the camp is $650 for Resident camper staying in CSUMB dorms and $550 for commuter campers who will not be staying overnight.  The price of the camp includes Instruction, Adidas Water Polo suit, Swim Cap, T-shirt, Camp Photo, Goody Bag, Room and Board (resident campers only), and use of the Facilities.  Commuter campers will receive two meals (lunch and dinner) per day.  Breakfast is on-your-own for commuter campers.

 When Does The Week Begin and End?

Check-in for all campers is from 12:30pm to 2:00pm on Sunday.  The first Session begins at 2:00pm on Sunday and the last Session ends at 11:30am on Friday. Campers checkout from camp on Friday at 12:30pm.

 What Is Your Refund Policy?

No refunds will be made except for illness, injury, or at the discretion fo the camp director.  Requests must be in writing, and accompanied by a written physician’s statement in the case of illness or injury. Please remember any refund can only be attained from CSUMB Water Polo/Swim Camp.  The refund will include Credit Card Processing Fees $50.00 and the cost of the Camp Polo Suit $40.00.

 Are There Camp Discounts Available?

Qualified applicants can receive a $100 discount. This request must be made directly to the Camp Director Emily Schmit (

 Can Commuters Purchase Dorm Meals?

Lunch and Dinner will be provided for Commuters (Day Campers)

 How Do Campers Go To And From The Dorm?

Campers are escorted from and to the dorm by our camp staff. The Pool is about a fifteen-minute walk from the dorms.

 Who Is In-Charge of Supervision?

Our camp staff and the Housing Department at Cal State Monterey Bay share in supervision over the campers throughout the course of the entire week. CSUMB Housing hires full-time and part-time staff to meet the administrative and supervisory needs of the camps. In addition, the University Police- CSUMB has supervisorial duties over the dorms and the entire campus. Our staff chaperones the campers to and from the pool.  Our staff has supervision duties while campers are in camp from check-in to checkout.  We take the responsibility of caring for your child seriously.  Who Is In-Charge Of Housing and Meals?

The Cal State Monterey Bay Housing Department handles all of the housing and meal issues.  Meals begin with Sunday Night dinner and end with Friday breakfast.  Housing will be determined at check-in.  You will be provided phone numbers to call during the week if questions arise.  What Is The Staff To Camper Ratio?

Overall our Staff to Camper Ratio is about 1:6 Campers who are having difficulty with a specific skill are given one-to-one instruction.

 If I Am A Commuter (Day Camper) Do I Need To Check-In On Sunday?

In order to receive proper instructions and schedule it is required that Commuters check-in on Sunday between 12:40pm to 2:00pm.

 How Are Room Assignments And Roommates Determined?

Rooms and Roommates will be assigned at check-in.

 Can I Purchase Equipment Or Camp “Spirit Wear”?

Equipment can be purchased in advance online through our Online Store. Camp Merchandise (Spirit Wear) will be on sale at Campsite. This includes Camp Hoodies, Camp Shirts.  Cal State Monterey Bay merchandise can be purchased at the University Student Store or Online. Extra goggles, caps, and other equipment can be purchased on site.

 What if I Need To Be Picked Up From the Airport Or Amtrak Station?

 Who Is Eligible To Participate?

Participants must be between the ages of 13 and 18.  While camps are open to any and all entrants, this is not a “learn-to-swim” camp, the Campers must be competent swimmers.

 What Do I Bring For Dorm Living?

Campers will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow, toiletries, 3-5 towels and all- weather clothes.
